Julian has the power of Health Optimization. He can sense medical information about someone and, in some cases, directly influence their health. As the name implies, this is an optimization, not a detraction, he cannot do anything damaging.
(Some) Things this can do:
- Removing alcohol and/or drugs from the system, making someone instantly sober.
- Lessening a hangover by removing acetaldehyde and other contaminants from the system.
- Removing lactic acid from the muscles after heavy exertion.
- Detecting cancerous cells and removing them from the body.
- Detecting bacterial or viral infection and removing it from the body.
- Curing damage to cells due to radiation.
- Healing burns, chemical or otherwise.
Basically, anything caused by a chemical reaction, bacterial/viral agents, weird science, or hormones, he can affect.
What it cannot do:
- Cure blight, as that is more of a metaphysical ailment than a physical one
- Break curses or affect anything magical or supernatural. He wouldn't be able to cure a werewolf or a vampire, for example.
- Cure broken bones, cuts, or lacerations.
- This power will not work at all on non-organic life forms, such as holograms or androids.
What he will not do, as a general rule:
- Remove genetic alterations and/or chemical ones from the body (discounting alcohol, drugs, or poison--anything harmful) without express permission.
- Use his ability to alter any neurodivergent brain chemistry without explicit ooc and ic permission. (i.e. low serotonin production due to depression, or surprise adrenaline thanks to chronic anxiety. He'll help if directly asked, but he'd prefer to talk people through it and recommend counseling if necessary.)
- Tell any third party about what his powers have detected about someone.
If you want to opt out of him knowing anything about your characters that he couldn't figure out using his normal senses, please just comment here saying so. Otherwise:
What I need to know from you:
1. What, if anything, can Julian 'scan' from your character? Any recurring health issues caused by outside sources? Any medications they've been on that haven't left their system yet? Any changes or non-standard biology that's NOT caused by something magical/spiritual?
2. Is your character human/humanoid? Julian's ability doesn't work on non-organic life forms/artificial intelligences/etc. It's up to you where your character falls on this scale.
3. Can he, or do you want him to, affect anything about your character? This will be played out, as he will request permission in 95% of cases. If no, either it won't come up or he'll ask once and remember.
4. In emergency situations, can Julian affect anything about your character? This will be the 5% exception.
